FG IS 2NE1
FanGirls is 2ne1
just two weeks ago, 8 peaks - the company behind turning manga series to live action such as full house & princess hours - announced that they will be producing another series based on the manga "a teen's life".
the producers have stated the possibility of Super Junior's Kim Kibum to play the lead guy but was closed lipped on who would complete the rest of the cast.
another big - and important - question surfaced after the press conference. Who was going to play the immensely popular group 2ne1?
among the many reasons of the popularity of the manga is it's similarity to real life fandom. majority of the students are smitten by the fictional 5 member group 2ne1. in fact, there are some episodes that starts with the students going crazy or discussing (at times arguing) about the group.
the producers stated that they will get either a group or put together random girls to play the group and this caused intense discussion over the web.
to the joy of everyone, FG leader Suzy, announced the involvement of the group in the project. 8 peaks also released a formal statement a couple of hours after to comfirm the annoucement.
"The 8 peaks company is very glad to announce that the girl group 2ne1 from the manga "a teen's life" will be played by the very talnted group, the Fangirls.
The producers wanted no one else but them since the beginning but had to keep the negotiations secret until already agreed.
We also have to change some things for the reason that 2ne1 has 5 members while the FG has only 4. we have decided to carry on only CL - the leader -, Park Bom, Dara & Minzy which will be played by Alyce, G-yan, Tin & Suzy respectively.
We are indeed very fortunate to have a very talented and widely acknowledge group participating in the drama. The viewers can expect a good drama with this."
The annoucement surprised & shocked the netizens and raised so many concerns.
The manga writer had also stated that the producers had, indeed, asked permission to cut a member of the group.
"the producers came up to me and address the matter. of course, i am sad that a member would be cut but if it is for the betterment of the series then so be it."
the writer also admitted to being fan of the girl group. "My grandchildren loves those girls. in fact, when one of my grand-daughter celebrated her birthday, she wanted an FG cd but i ended up buying 1 for myself too"
after FG announced the good news, they held a press conference to answer questions from the media.
R: how do you feel about being chosen to play 2ne1? as you know, the manga was very well recieved and the group played important role in it.
Suzy: we are very honored , of course. not everyone is fortunate to be given an upportunity like this. we ourselves are big fans of the manga and we never though this day would come.
we would like to thank the writter, Mr. Ahn, the producers and the management for making this possible.
R: but alot of concerns have come up though, like it is very dissapointing that they will have a 4 member group. what can you say about this?
Suzy: it is very saddening but as what Mr. Ahn had said, if it is for the better.
R: so tell us about the characters you will be playing?
*Suzy points to Alyce
Alyce: i will be playing CL, the leader of the group. im pretty excited about it. i get to be the leader. YEAH!! *gives a hwaiting pose
R: Suzy, how do you feel about Alyce being the leader?
Suzy: if you asked me about not being a leader i'd say it's ok but since it's Alyce, im pretty worried. *laughs & gives Alyce a peace sign.
Alyce: YAH!!!
Suzy: but really it's ok. i love being the leader but there's no harm in letting the others take on the role i guess. besides the member i play, Minzy, is pretty kick ass too. she's actually my fave member. and it's also pretty interesting to play the maknae for once. hahaha.
Alyce: see!?
Tin: she's enjoying it actually. she's been bossong us around eversince it was finalize.
G-yan: thank god it's only for the drama
*everyone laughs
Tin: i play Dara. she's the sweet one in the group. she the one closest to my real personality so im happy to get her parts.
G-Yan: Bom is like the baby of th group even if she's not the youngest. she also plays lead vocals so it's not very far from what i do.
R: what are your plans being 2ne1?
Suzy: we will be releasing a song to be used as the group's song in the drama and we will also be making apperance in character of the members.
G-yan: dont be shocked if we perform live and introduces our selves as the 2ne1 members.
Tin: it's part of the promotions.
R: that sounds interesting.
Alyce: it's the first time something like this will happen so you better watch out for it.
R: cab you tell us about the song?
Alyce: it's titled "Fire". it's hip hop and also kind of techno. a song you can dance and get hooked to. we have already recorded it and it came out amazing.
Suzy: you will also be seeing a more sexy G-yan & Tin.
Tin: ooooooohhhh. hahaha.
G-yan: it was hard for us but yeah. hahaha. kidding!!
R: so we'll be seeing the more sexy FG, i mean 2ne1, on stage then?
Alyce: unfortunately, i injured my leg during rehearsals so we cant do many live pers. we will be debuting the song though in Music bank and after that no live perfs after six weeks.
Suzy: but we have decided to make 2 versions of the music video. a street which is hip hop in theme and space version which is heavy on special effects and more sexy.
Tin: we know it's diffrent from our usual promotions but it's what is best.
G-yan: we made sure you guys enjoy both.
R: any message to fans?
*Alyce & Suzy looks at each other.
Suzy: you're 2ne1's leader, you go first.
Alyce: oh ok. im sorry but im new to this leader stuff. haha. please watch out for the series "a teen's life" and also for our single "fire".
Suzy: thank you for all the love & support. please continue to support FG activities. we can be the best FG or 2ne1 as long as you are with us.
Tin: we love you. thank you.
